ABOUT SymBiotechs USA | We bring ENERGY to life!

Jarem Frye, founder/president: SymBiotechs USA rock climbing with early XT9 prototypeSymBiotechs USA is a prosthetic components company focused on empowering active amputees with the devices they need to accomplish the impossible! Founded by Jarem Frye, (the world’s first AK amputee telemark skier, competitive AK Wakeboarder, pro rock climber and winner of the first ever eXtremity Games rock climbing championship) SymBiotechs USA follows his vision of ability rather than the standard idea of disability which Jarem was presented with at his amputation.

As a company SymBiotechs USA believes in breaking barriers, setting records and inspiring others to break those records! We believe in every amputees ability to do great and impossible things! The XT9 Energy Storing Prosthetic Knee (ESPK) -our first product- has enabled above knee amputees around the world to do things that Jarem was told would never be possible for him at his amputation in 1994. Many new amputees were told the same thing as little as two years ago.

The XT9 has truly become one of the most revolutionary advances in amputee ability in several decades! In the time that Jarem Frye has been an amputee, amputees have gone from being able to walk smoothly to being able to run and now, being able to snowboard, surf, ski, climb, skate, wakeboard, scuba, and much more thanks to XT9 ESPK.

Our goal as a company is not merely to sell a product, but to sell the dream of true ability to every amputee we come across, and to create the devices that make the dream a reality. We want to show the world that amputees can do whatever they put their minds to and we want to provide the devices you need to make your own “impossible” a reality.

Our clients have truly made this “the revolution in prosthetics” by accomplishing the impossible all around the world! The accomplishments include the world’s first competitive AKA snowboarder -Nicole Roundy who despite being told that snowboarding was out of the question, has used the XT9 ESPK to win an impressive list of gold, silver and bronze medals in national and international slope-style snowboard competitions. EJ Poplawski has become the first AKA alpine ski racer to compete on a prosthetic leg using the XT9 ESPK to work his way to a nation level of competition in his first season racing as an amputee. Garrett Jones amazed everyone by learning to “snowboard before he could even walk” after loosing his leg to an IED attack in the war on Iraq. After proving that anyone with enough determination could use the XT9 ESPK, even with only a six inch residual limb, Garrett became the first US Marine to return to active duty in a war zone when he accompanied his unit to Afghanistan for their second tour of duty.

With only a few years on the market, the XT9 ESPK has become a key aspect of many competitive winnings around the globe, impossible accomplishments and wonderful mind shifts in what is possible for amputees.

We are committed to continuing this kind of accomplishment by reaching out to mindsets and real life situations through our products, our marketing and our clients accomplishments!

2010 Employee Of The Year | Julie Hendrickson

Julie Hendrickson, VP of Global Operations at SymBiotechs USAWe are proud to announce Julie Hendrickson, our VP of Global Operations, as our employee of the year for 2010. We reserve our greatest honors for 'firsts' in this company. SymBiotechs USA was based on the first Energy Storing Prosthetic Knee in the world, and we pride ourselves on all the 'firsts' that have been made possible by the XT9 ESPK!

Julie is the first employee to receive an employee of the year award at SymBiotechs USA. If you have dealt with SymBiotechs USA in the last two years, you have dealt with Julie. Not only have we received no complaints, but we continually receive praise and appreciation for her outstanding service to our customers around the world!

Not only has Julie provided exceptional service to our clients in 2010, she was also instrumental in the formulation and execution of our 2010 marketing plan. Through her efforts the technical aspects were completed to obtain the CE mark for product distribution in the European Union.   She also led the administration and handling of our sponsorship of student engineering teams in the USA  and in Singapore.  She was invaluable in negotiating with government agencies to obtain incentive terms and benefits for moving SymBiotechs USA to Utah, where we will be able to test and develop more beneficial products for the activities that our users enjoy!

Julie is often called upon to reach above and beyond her job description which she does faithfully when asked, but more impressive is the fact that Julie reaches above and beyond her job description just as much without being asked.

Julie has accomplished many important things for SymBiotechs USA in 2010, including a true industry first and only (exclusive to SymBiotechs USA) contract with one of the largest prosthetics providers in the world! If we could provide the proprietary details of this accomplishment, you would understand why the executives of SymBiotechs USA stepped back and said, "we need an employee of the year award!" at the moment of Julie's impressive accomplishment.

At SymBiotechs USA, we're looking forward to many more years with Julie, and we're looking for more employees who can follow her lead, and live up to the standard she continues to hold high!

From everyone at SymBiotechs USA, Julie, we thank you for your dedicated and exceptional service!
